ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: A. The normal reimhursemem level will he based on the Universal Assessment Tool UAT ; level of care e.g. Class 1 2 or add-on payment for ALC - BH level of care will he made when the Member meets all of the following cnteria: 1 The Member does nol requtre the services of a skilled nursing facility, but is unable to live independently and requires placement in a supported living facility. The Member has a documented history of behavioral health problems and or social skill deficits which are chronic and require above average staff time and intervention as well as the involvement of behavioral health professionals. The Member is assessed as being capable of improving his her level of funcUothng and quality of life from placement in a special environment. The Member is approved for ALC-BH placement by a Placement Committee consisting of the Case Management Program Manager, the Behavioral Health Coordinator, the Case Mallagement Supervisor and the assigned Case Manager. The Member is screened by the ALC and accepted for placement. Each Member approved for ALC-BH placement will he reviewed for continued appropriateness by the Case Manager and the Placement Committee at least once every three 3 ; months. Ence in MPTP sensitivity found between SOD-transgenic and nontransgenic mice. In relation to the mechanism of MPTP-induced toxicity, we have thus far found only one significant difference between the two groups of mice, namely, the level of Cu Zn-SOD. Therefore, the most parsimonious explanation is to assume that the high Cu Zn-SOD activity measured in the SOD-transgenic mice is, most likely, the factor involved in the resistance of these animals to MPTP-induced neurotoxicity. This interpretation is consistent with the recent demonstration that mouse clonal cell lines that were transfected with the human Cu Zn-SOD gene and that expressed 3.6 times higher Cu Zn-SOD activity were resistant to the toxic effects of paraquat Elroy-Stein et al., 1986 ; . The herbicide paraquat increases the production of O, - radicals by a process involving redox cycling Hassan and Fridovich, 1979 ; . Structural similarity between MPP + and paraquat had earlier raised the possibility that MPTP-induced toxicity might be due to a similar process Di Monte et al., 1986b, and reviewed in Langston and Irwin, 1986 ; . In addition, like paraquat, when administered systematically, MPP + causes severe toxic damage in the lung and increases plasma levels of glutathione disulfide, an indication of oxidative stress Johannessen et al., 1986 ; . However, neither MPTP nor MPP + undergoes redox cycling Sayre et al., 1986 ; . On the other hand, because MPP + impairs mitochondrial respiration by inhibiting complex I ofthe electron transport chain Vays et al., 1986; Mizuno et al., 1987; Nicklas et al., 1987 ; , it was concluded that MPP + must induce nigrostriatal cell death by depleting the cellular levels of ATP through its inhibition of complex I. This suggestion is supported by the observations that MPP + does produce rapid ATP depletion in isolated hepatocytes Di Monte et al., 1986a; Sayre et al., 1986 ; and in mouse brain synaptosomes Schotcher et al., 1990 ; . These findings do not, however, indicate that the depletion of ATP is the final pathway or the sole manner via which MPP + kills cells. Indeed, inhibition of complex I by MPP + has also been shown to be associated with the production of O, - radicals in vitro Hasegawa al., 1990 ; .In addition, rotenone, a potent inhibitor et of the mitochondrial respiration that blocks complex I at the samesite as MPP + does Ramsey et al., 1987 ; , also increases the production of O, - radicals Takeshigeand Minakami, 1979 ; and causessimilar striatal DA depletion to MPP + when injected stereotaxically into the median forebrain bundle in rat Heikkila et al., 1985 ; . Thus, O, - radicalsgeneratedin this fashion can be cytotoxic by themselvesand or participate with hydrogen peroxide H, O, ; in the iron-catalyzed Haber-Weiss reaction to yield the highly reactive hydroxyl radical . OH ; , which is known to cause lipid peroxidation, enzyme denaturation, damageto cell membrane, and subsequent death Freeman cell and Crapo, 1982 ; . Therefore, the lack of significant MPTPinduced neurotoxicity observed in SOD-transgenic mice suggeststhat the high level of SOD present in theseanimals may have dismutated any excessof O, - radicals generated in the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway asa consequence MPTP of administration. However, asfor the correlation betweenhuman Cu Zn-SOD overexpressionin transfectedmousecellsand their resistanceto paraquat Elroy-Stein et al., 1986 ; , it should be emphasized that although SOD-transgenicmice HS SF-2 18were protected againsta total doseof 90 mg kg MPTP, higher MPTP dosages could exceed, in all likelihood, the protection provided by a 3.2 1-fold increase in Cu Zn-SOD activity, resulting in a certain degreeof toxicity in the dopaminergic pathway of these animals.
I'm so excited to join the Women's Mid-Life Health Centre of Saskatchewan. I bring the organization my enthusiasm, ambition and a bundle of skills that I'm eager to put to good use. I'll be responsible for the overall administration of the organization from developing our first set of bylaws to planning, programming, public relations and fund raising. Here's a bit of my history. Since 1993, I've been a partner in Concepts 3, a strategic public relations and graphic design firm. Together with my partner in our Ottawa office and 4 other staff, we provide communications support to business owners, marketing managers and human resource managers in private sector businesses, associations and non-profit organizations. Since graduating from the College of Commerce in 1984, I have worked in the securities industry, in an advertising agency, and with a public relations firm before becoming an entrepreneur. I enjoy being involved in community groups, having served on St. Paul's Hospital Board, St. Paul's Hospital Foundation Communications Committee, Broadway Business Improvement District Board, Friends of the Broadway Theatre Board and Fundraising Committee, and the Canadian Public Relations Society, to name a few. I really love my life. It's full of new learnings and amazing people. I look forward to helping the Women's Mid-Life Health Centre grow into something that has a positive impact on many, many lives. To your good health, ~ Dani vanDriel. Table 2. The inactivation of infectivity in aerosols of strains of FMD virus hem at 70 + relative humidity and valdecoxib. Pediatric use safety and effectiveness of valcyte tablets in pediatric patients have not been established. Fect is the more pronounced if the level of the noise is lower. In the complete absence of thermal uctuations the system would very quickly freeze into a metastable state. The abundant occurrence of metastable states in self-assembly systems is well known in the experimental literature. The same type of phenomenon is also observed in the experimental data on DODA aggregation. Since the level of the noise is an important factor in the aggregate formation, it is illustrative to estimate the most e ective value of the noise scale parameter . In the present simulations, where all beads and solvent molecules have the same size, the uctuation dissipation theorem demands that , h . But in the real experimental system the molecular volume of solvent is somewhat smaller than the molecular volumes of the statistical units of the chain molecule. A better parametrization for the noise scale parameter could be eff , S h 4: 2, since the uctuations are most dominant in the regions where the solvent concentration is relatively high interfaces and bulk solvent. This would imply that the actual in uence of the noise is likely to be smaller than suggested by the full noise calculation gure 3.1, but not so small as in the reduced noise calculation gure 3.2. Comparison with experimental results is di cult, since all of the experimental data in reference 43 refers to dilute solutions. Electron micrographs show that in aqueous solutions DODA self-assembles into square and rectangular shaped plates or even stacks of lamellae, depending on processing conditions. The data further suggests that the ordering of the hydrophobic tails is rather strong, almost crystalline like. Here, we have used a single chain density functional in a mean- eld approach, and as a consequence the strong ordering e ects cannot be reproduced well: the mean- eld approximation for chainchain correlations is obviously not very good for strongly ordered materials. Since the Gaussian chain model has no energetic bending terms, the molecules in our simulation are more exible than a hydrocarbon chain. The width of the lamellae in the simulations is ca. 2 nm, which indicates that the tails of the Gaussian chain are considerably disordered. This is not in agreement with the experimental ndings and vaniqa.

Communication of request: The request for the transfer of patients initially can be made verbally. The request, however, must be followed up with a written communication prior to the actual transferring of any patients. The patienttransferring hospital will identify to the patient-accepting hospital: a. The number of patients needed to be transferred. b. The general nature of their illness or condition. c. Any type of specialized services required, e.g., ICU bed, burn bed, trauma care, etc. 2. Documentation: The patient-transferring hospital is responsible for providing the patient-receiving hospital with the patient's complete medical records, insurance information and other patient information necessary for the care of the transferred patient. The patient-transferring hospital is responsible for tracking the destination of all patients transferred out. 3. Transporting of patients: The patient-transferring hospital is responsible for coordinating and financing the transportation of patients to the patient-receiving hospital. The point of entry will be designated by the patient-receiving hospital's senior administrator or designee. Once admitted, that patient becomes the patientreceiving hospital's patient and under care of the patient-receiving hospital's admitting physician until discharged, transferred or reassigned. The patienttransferring hospital is responsible for transferring of extraordinary drugs or other special patient needs e.g., equipment, blood products ; along with the patient if requested by the patient-receiving hospital. 4. Supervision: The patient-receiving hospital will designate the patient's admitting service, the admitting physician for each patient, and, if requested, will provide at least temporary courtesy privileges to the patient's original attending physician. 5. Financial and Legal Liability: Upon admission, the patient-receiving hospital is responsible for liability claims originating from the time the patient is admitted to the patient-accepting hospital. Reimbursement for care should be negotiated with each hospital's insurer under the conditions for admissions without precertification requirements in the event of emergencies. 6. Notification: The patient-transferring hospital is responsible for notifying both the patient's family or guardian and the patient's attending or personal physician of the situation. The patient-receiving hospital may assist in notifying the patient's family and personal physician. D. PART from being the pioneer in designing and developing the concept of the sports page, The Hindu also played a consistent and committed role as a promoter of sports, long before the theme of sponsorship acquired its presentday dynamics. The initiative towards devoting a separate section to sport in the daily newspaper came from the then publisher, Kasturi Gopalan, "the father of the sports page, " as Rangaswamy Parthasarathy noted in "A Hundred Years of The Hindu." Lending a helping hand to Kasturi Gopalan, a fine hockey and tennis player in his college days, was the first sportswriter of this paper, Murugesa Mudaliar. The dawn of independence and the prevailing euphoria afforded increased scope for The Hindu to play a significant part in sports promotion. Sport & Pastime, the brain-child of G. Kasturi, who later took over the reins as the Editor of The Hindu, was launched and it was a perfect vehicle to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the youth. Probably the first sport to come into The Hindu's sponsorship fold was hockey in 1951. India was the world power at that point, having taken all the four Olympic gold medals between 1928 and 1948. When the National championship came to Madras for the first time, the startling fact that the event was being played without a trophy came to the notice of the then Editor, Kasturi Srinivasan. The Maori Shield -- a memento from the New Zealand Hockey Association when India toured that country in 1935 -- was being given as the trophy for the winner. But in the chaos of partition the trophy was lost. Kasturi Srinivasan offered a magnificent silver trophy, appropriately named to serve the memory of one of the paper's finest editors, S. Rangaswami, a splendid hockey player. "Happily, the proprietors of The Hindu and Sport & Pastime, great lovers of sport, presented the new trophy, the handsome Rangaswami Cup, " wrote Dhyan Chand in his autobiography, Goal.
